Sankalpa Mālā

Sankalpa Mālā is a garland of intentions.

I would like to collect intentions from people to create Sankalpa mālā as our collective prayer, blessings and protection for ourselves, others and the world.

A Sanskrit word, Sankalpa means an intention formed by the heart and mind. It is a wish or willingness coming from the heart with clarity of the mind.

When the mind is quiet, it reflects what’s really important for you, what you want to bring into your life or day and what you would like to share with others. Sankalpa is your heart desire, core value, sincere willingness or wish.

Mālā means a garland. It is also referred to a string of beads, which is used for praying. It indicates collectiveness and amplification by putting pieces together into one.

Sankalpa mālā is the collective aspiration which is stronger and more powerful than a single individual intention. Only one or a few beads can not be long enough to be prayer beads. The scent of a flower garland becomes sweeter and stronger when the more flowers are strung together.

Hopefully I can make Sankalpa mālā long enough like prayer beads with many intentions from many people. Its’ aspiration becomes strong enough to reach many for the better, healing, blessings and connection.

How to find your Sanakalpa

Sankalpa can be set for various times and renewed anytime. People set an intention for the beginning of a year, a month, a week or a day.

You might reflect your intention during the day, just before getting out of the bed or after the practice of meditation. Some people set their intention every morning.

After having the mind quiet, reflect on your heart’s wish.

What do you want to see more of in yourself or your life?
What quality do I want to invite into my day?
What quality do I want to share with others?

Keep it simple, one or two words.

The audio below is for those who would like to have some guidance to set an intention.

Please send me your intention if you would like to be a part of our Sankalpa Mālā.

Your intention will be anonymous and you are welcomed to send me as many Sankalp as you want.

Our Sankalpa Mālā will be shared with you as community Sankalpa after enough submitted intentions are put together.

Please feel free to share this post with anyone who might be interested in.
